Rape: Man sentenced to ten years in prison for raping his ex-wife | News from Jaipur

Jaipur: A district and magistrate court in Dausa found a man guilty of raping his ex-wife, whom he had previously divorced. He was sentenced to 10 years of hard labor on Thursday. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict. The verdict was announced about 18 months after the woman filed a complaint against her former husband. According to police, the woman had filed a complaint against the accused (name withheld to protect the identity of the rape victims) at Mahila police station in Dausa on January 20, 2023. The woman said she and the accused were married on February 23, 2012, and had two sons. Problems arose after six years of marriage when the accused and his family allegedly started harassing the woman for her dowry. The persistent abuse and beating forced the woman to return to her parents’ house. The woman’s lawyer Vijay Kumar Baindra told TOI on Friday, “The accused obtained a divorce decree from the court through fraudulent means. In January 2023, the accused asked his ex-wife if he wanted their younger son’s Aadhar card for school admission. However, when the woman tried to give him the Aadhar card, he raped her.” “The accused had called the woman at a remote house near her mother’s house on the pretext of taking the Aadhar card,” Vijay Kumar Baindra added.
