Saratoga Springs police warn of telephone scam

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (NEWS10) — Saratoga Springs Police have issued an alert regarding an ongoing phone scam. Police say residents have reported receiving calls from people claiming to be police officers demanding money transfers.

In their release, police reminded the public that officers do not and cannot accept payments in lieu of an arrest and that any charges or warrants can only be executed before a judge. Anyone who receives a suspicious call of this nature is asked to report it to Saratoga Springs Police at (518)584-1800.
