A Russian journalist was killed in a drone strike in eastern Ukraine, his news organization said on Sunday, two days after the death of another correspondent near the front line.

“Our correspondent Nikita Tsitsagi was killed in a drone attack by the Ukrainian army,” News.Ru posted on Telegram.

The attack was said to have taken place near the Saint-Nicolas Monastery near the town of Vugledar, where heavy fighting had taken place over the past three months.

On Thursday, a Russian state television journalist was killed and another injured in a Ukrainian drone strike in Golmivsky, a Russian-controlled village near the front line in the Donetsk region.

The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting the journalists.

President Vladimir Putin said earlier this month that “at least 30” Russian journalists had been killed since the conflict in Ukraine began. AFP could not confirm this claim.
