Major Breakthrough in Maryland Rachel Morin Murder Case: Cops Finally Arrest Illegal Immigrant Seen in Haunting Video from Doorbell, TEN MONTHS After Her Body Was Found Naked and Beaten on a Remote Hiking Trail

Authorities have arrested an illegal immigrant on suspicion of murdering a mother whose naked body was found on a hiking trail nearly a year ago.

Suspect Victor Martinez Hernandez, 23, was arrested Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and charged with the murder and rape of 37-year-old Rachel Morin in Maryland in August 2023.

Hernandez crossed the southern border illegally in February 2023 after allegedly murdering another woman in El Salvador a month earlier. He is also accused of attacking a nine-year-old girl and her mother in Los Angeles before Morin’s murder.

The case remained a mystery for ten months after Morin, a mother of five, was reported missing by her boyfriend while she was jogging on hiking trails.

Suspect Victor Martinez Hernandez, 23, was arrested Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and charged with the murder and rape of Morin. He is also accused of murdering another woman in El Salvador and attacking a 9-year-old girl in Los Angeles.

Morin’s naked and mutilated body was found on the Ma and Pa trail in Bel Air, about 45 miles north of Baltimore, a day after she was reported missing.

Six months later, investigators in Maryland released a sketch of Morin’s suspected killer and her family asked the public for help in solving the case.

According to investigators, Hernandez was hiding next to the popular hiking trail when he allegedly murdered Morin.

He allegedly attacked, raped and killed her before fleeing the state, and Tulsa police said they traced his trail to Oklahoma after the FBI contacted state officials.

Hernandez was arrested by multiple police agencies at a Tulsa bar on Friday and was reportedly found “sitting casually at the bar.”

Officials said he initially lied about his identity and denied any knowledge of the crimes for which he was wanted. Hernandez is now awaiting extradition.

At a press conference on Saturday, Hardford County Sheriff Jeff Gaylor announced Hermandez’s arrest, saying the suspect has become a criminal since entering the country illegally.

Before reaching Morin, Maryland, Hernandez attacked a 9-year-old girl and her mother during a burglary in Los Angeles, California, in March 2023, Gaylor said.

The body of the 37-year-old mother of five was discovered naked and beaten in a tunnel along a popular hiking trail in Bel Air, Maryland.

DNA evidence from the break-in was later linked to Morin’s case.

“As far as I know, this suspect, this monster, fled to the United States after the murder of a young woman in El Salvador a month earlier, in January 2023,” Gaylor said at the press conference on Saturday.

“When he arrived in our country, he brutally attacked a nine-year-old girl and her mother during a burglary in Los Angeles in March 2023.”

During the nearly year-long investigation, detectives combed seven states and involved ten federal, state and local agencies.

Officials expressed fears the suspect might strike again and released Ring doorbell camera footage showing the attacker fleeing the Los Angeles home after the break-in.

Gaylor said at the time: “Serial killers all start somewhere. What he did in Los Angeles was definitely in that direction, in my opinion.”

“I believe his intention was to inflict serious physical harm. We don’t yet know who he is.”

“He could still be here in our county, or he could have fled somewhere in the country or even anywhere in the world.”

Hernandez is also believed to have ties to the Washington, D.C. area, both in Virginia and Prince George’s County, and is believed to be involved in gang activity, police said.

Tobin came under suspicion online after his previous legal troubles came to light, and he insisted on social media that he had nothing to do with the case

The day her body was found, Morin’s boyfriend, Richard Tobin, found her car at the trailhead. After the case gained national attention, he was forced to deny any involvement on social media.

Four days before her murder, the two had made their relationship official on social media.

He posted: “I love Rachel. I would never hurt her, let the family and I grieve.”

“Yes, I have a past, but I have also been clean for 15 months and have changed as a person. Please.”

Tobin has been arrested 14 times since 2014 on various charges, including drug trafficking, assault, disturbing the peace and refusing to yield to arrest.
