Two men arrested for assault and weapons possession after domestic violence incident

MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Moses Lake police arrested two men after one broke into a woman’s apartment and the other was found in possession of a gun.

According to Moses Lake Police, around 8 a.m. on the morning of May 7, Moses Lake Police received reports of a break-in at a residence in the 100 block of East Broadway. When police arrived, they encountered Damien Ray, a 27-year-old from Kennewick.

Ray told officers that he was visiting a friend when the woman’s ex-partner entered the apartment and threatened him with a gun. The man was later identified as Daniel Gazca, a 28-year-old from Moses Lake. Ray said he just wanted to get his clothes from the woman’s apartment.

As police approached the residence, police noticed they could hear signs of an ongoing domestic disturbance. Officers then entered the area and arrested Gazca. The female victim reported being pistol-whipped and had facial injuries consistent with her account.

Police provided her with medical attention and access to support services. She stated that the pistol belonged to Gazca, but mentioned that he had probably left it behind when he left the apartment a few months earlier.

Officers then discovered a social media post from Ray in which he posed with the same weapon Gazca used in the attack. Ray was subsequently charged with felon in possession of a firearm.

Gazca was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and fourth-degree assault/domestic violence.
