MAFS star tells the moment his little daughter was attacked by a kangaroo

Married at first sight Star Dan Hunjas has recounted the frightening moment his daughter was attacked by a kangaroo as a child.

Dan recalled taking his daughter Keeley, now 18, “on a father-daughter adventure to a zoo” in Australia, where they encountered the “really friendly and sweet” kangaroo.

In an Instagram video, Dan shared an old photo of his daughter being grabbed by the animal and explained what happened.

“It was supposed to be a sweet, innocent photo of my daughter and a kangaroo at the zoo until I accidentally captured the moment this kangaroo decided to resort to violence. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt and now we have this funny picture and story to look back on #kangaroo #kangaroofight #zoo #australia #straya,” he wrote in the caption.

Dan then added in the video that he had the camera around his neck and leaned back to take a photo of the sweet encounter. “When I pressed the button, this kangaroo just went ‘whack!’ and latched onto my daughter’s face and started shaking her,” he explained.

“At that moment I dropped the camera, lunged at the kangaroo and ripped it off my daughter. Anyway, the thing turned around and started attacking me.

“So now I’m fighting with this kangaroo and at the same time trying to find out if my daughter is okay.”

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, as Dan said Keeley “didn’t have a single scar, which is very fortunate.”

Of course, that didn’t stop him from panicking, fearing the worst. “I expected to see blood and cuts and eyeballs being torn out. All of those things that your imagination brings to mind,” said the former MAFS Star.

“Nobody was hurt, everyone was fine. We have the cool picture, we have the funny story and we all lived to fight another day. Especially the kangaroo who woke up that day and chose violence!” he added with a laugh.
