OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) – Authorities say one person was killed and another injured in a car crash near Greenville.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said the car, driven by a 38-year-old Sand Lake woman, was traveling north on Montcalm Avenue near 16 Mile Road when it spun out of control, left the road and struck a tree.


The driver suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The passenger, a 39-year-old Sand Lake man, was killed in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office. Their names have not been released.

It is not known what caused the crash.

The sheriff’s office said speed was likely a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
