Today wake for 13-year-old who died in tragic Harrison accident

The city of Harrison will mourn the loss of 13-year-old Mark Anthony Giordano at his wake today.

Giordano died Sunday evening after a tragic accident in the Metro-North parking garage next to Harrison Station.

A prayer service was held Wednesday evening at St. Gregory’s Church in downtown Harrison, where people lined up to express their support for Giordano’s family and share their grief.

According to investigators, Giordano was riding an electric bike with friends on the top floor of the parking garage when he lost control, was thrown over the edge and fell five stories. He was taken to the hospital but could not be saved.

Giordano’s classmates left notes and flowers in the garage in memory of the boy, who is remembered as a kind, sweet boy and an outstanding athlete who played football and wrestled in high school.

“He had the most potential of anyone in the whole class,” said classmate Gabriel Amaril. “He was on the varsity football team and a really good wrestler.”

Giordano was scheduled to graduate from Lewis M. Klein Middle School in just over a week.

The wake will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today at McMahon Funeral Home. The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Gregory’s Church in Harrison.
