Chandigarh man arrested for raping Ludhiana woman in Zirkarpur hotel

Apart from the main accused, the police also arrested his cousin Jashanpreet Singh, who lived in Khanna, Ludhiana, for helping the accused in his criminal conspiracy.

The victim, who hails from Khanna, told police that she met Jaskaran Singh in 2019 through his cousin Jashanpreet, whom she already knew.

Eventually, over the years, the victim developed a relationship with the accused. Jaskaran Singh promised her marriage and developed a physical relationship with the victim. Following the same pattern, the victim was called to Baltana where she was allegedly raped. Jaskaran left the hotel after a heated argument with the victim.

The woman further reported that after returning to Khanna, she narrated the incident to her family, who later filed a complaint with the local police. A complaint was filed at Khanna police station without an FIR, which was forwarded to Zirakpur police as the crime was committed in Baltana.

The accused was booked at Zirakpur police station under sections 376 (rape) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

In early May, Chandigarh police arrested a Ludhiana man and his friend for allegedly raping a female friend after inviting her to a hotel to watch an IPL match. The accused were booked at Sector 36 police station under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
