Matt Milano finally returns from injury for the Buffalo Bills

The Bills weren’t the same team on defense after losing linebacker Matt Milano last year to a leg injury. Today he was cleared to train.

Bills fans have been waiting to see this since the Bills made the trip to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London last year. On this trip, the Bills lost defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Matt Milano to injuries. Jones suffered a torn pectoral muscle. Milano had a broken leg. DaQuan Jones was miraculously able to return towards the end of the year, but Milan was still out.

That has changed today.

Milano has been working hard to rehabilitate the leg he broke in London and today he was allowed to train on a limited basis.

When a player like Milan isn’t on the court, it’s not just the plays he would normally make that a team misses, but also the leadership he can provide. Terrell Bernard was a big surprise to many people after Milan’s injury, but even he admits the Bills are better with Milan on the field.

Today was just the first day of mandatory minicamp for the Bills. Unfortunately, it wasn’t all good news. It appears wide receiver Khalil Shakir suffered a lower body injury during practice today. They will return to the field tomorrow and Thursday for the other dates of the mini-camp. Next, they will return to St. John Fisher College in Rochester for training camp on July 23 with the first practice beginning on July 24.
