1 dead after gunman opens fire on motorist on Far South Side

CHICAGO – A man was killed Sunday afternoon after a shooting and fiery crash in the city’s far south side.

Chicago police said the incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. in the 12100 block of South Halstead Street in West Pullman.


According to police, the victim, a 28-year-old man, was driving south on Halstead when someone in a black sedan opened fire on the man.

Officials said the victim then drove into a parked car, causing his car to catch fire.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The motive for the shooting is currently unclear, and authorities have not yet identified the victim.

The investigation into the fatal shooting is currently ongoing.
