60-year-old Disneyland employee dies after golf cart accident

A Disneyland employee has died from injuries she sustained when she fell from a golf cart at work.

The employee – identified by CBS News as 60-year-old Bonnye Mavis Lear of Fullerton, California – fell from a moving golf cart at the California theme park on June 5 and hit her head, according to Anaheim police.

First responders arrived at the Disneyland Resort shortly before 11:30 a.m. local time “due to a traffic accident that occurred backstage,” police said.

According to police, Lear was found in “serious condition” after the incident and taken to a local hospital. She succumbed to her injuries two days later, on June 7.

Anaheim Police traffic investigators, who also arrived at the scene, are currently investigating the accident that led to Lear’s death, police said.

Disneyland did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
