One dead after traffic accident in Knox County

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident.

According to a press release, on Thursday, June 6, at 5:37 p.m., a 2017 Buick was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 34 and left the roadway on the southbound side of the highway at the Knox Highway 9 intersection. The 82-year-old driver from Wataga, Illinois, died in the crash, and two passengers, ages 18 and 19, were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The names of the deceased and the passengers have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation.
