Man wanted for murder in Vermont arrested in New Orleans police chase | Crime/Police

A chase that began in the St. Roch area on Monday and involved several local law enforcement agencies as well as the FBI ended with the arrest of two men, one of whom was wanted in connection with a murder in Vermont, according to Louisiana State Police.

Danny Daniels, 31, of Pennsylvania, was arrested and taken to the St. Tammany Parish Jail. He was charged with several warrants out of Vermont, including first-degree murder, police said. Daniels was also arrested on a number of charges related to Monday’s chase, including resisting an officer and aggravated fleeing from an officer.

A’Juan Preston, an 18-year-old from New Orleans, was also arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Jail. He faces charges of resisting police and other drug and firearm offenses, according to state police.

Authorities said the chase began when Louisiana State Police officers with Trooper NOLA attempted to stop a 2016 Lincoln MKZ near North Roman Street and Elysian Fields Avenue for several traffic violations. Daniels, who police believe was driving the Lincoln, refused to stop and instead led police on a chase through the city before both Daniels and Preston fled on foot.

State police said patrol officers and agents from the FBI, New Orleans Police Department and New Orleans Port Police eventually arrested Daniels and Preston.

It is unclear where exactly the pursuit ended or when it occurred. Police did not immediately respond to requests for further information.
