Former paraeducator and substitute teacher from Richmond charged with sexual abuse

RICHMOND, Kentucky (FOX 56) – A Richmond man was arrested Thursday after allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

According to an arrest warrant, 52-year-old Wayne Rupe admitted to kissing and having sexual contact with the minor on May 8.

A LinkedIn profile linked to Rupe lists previous employment as a teaching aide and substitute teacher at Madison Central High School, but court records indicate he is currently unemployed. FOX 56 News has reached out to Madison County Public Schools to confirm Rupe’s previous employment but has not yet received a response.

Rupe was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center. A preliminary hearing for Rupe is scheduled for June 6.
