Motorcyclist dead after accident at Main Street intersection in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts (WWLP) – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident at the corner of Main and Union Streets in Springfield Wednesday evening.

According to Springfield Police spokesman Ryan Walsh, officers were called to an accident at the intersection around 8 p.m. involving a motorcycle and a car. The motorcyclist, who was an adult male, succumbed to his injuries in the accident.


Walsh said the motorcyclist allegedly ran a red light and struck the car that had the right of way. The driver of the car remained at the scene of the accident.

Springfield Police are currently investigating the accident.
