Accident with injuries on Highway 4 eastbound in Hercules leads to closure of all lanes

According to the CHP, an accident with injuries on Highway 4 east of Sycamore Avenue in Hercules has resulted in the closure of all eastbound lanes of the highway and several connecting roads.

The authorities first reported the accident with injuries at around 7:30 a.m. and initially determined that only the right lane of the highway was closed.

CHP later issued a severe traffic alert for the crash, which blocked all lanes. CHP said traffic was being detoured at Franklin Canyon. The I-80 eastbound and westbound ramps to eastbound CA-4 and the Sycamore ramp to eastbound CA-4 were also closed by the crash.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes to avoid the area. There is no estimate as to when the road will reopen.
