Driver arrested after collision with pole and several pedestrians in Hartford

Three people were injured in Hartford on Tuesday evening when a driver first crashed into a light pole, then hit several pedestrians and fled the scene of the accident.

According to the Hartford Fire Department, emergency crews were dispatched to the area of ​​Main Street and Park Street shortly after 8:45 p.m. after a car and several pedestrians were reported.

According to the fire department, authorities learned that the driver involved had rammed and knocked down a light pole and then hit three pedestrians.

One person suffered a head injury and two others reported minor injuries, according to fire officials. All three were taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver involved fled the scene on foot and was pursued by police before being arrested, fire officials said. The driver has not been identified.

Hartford police are investigating the accident.
