Lexington Phone Scam Alert

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control has issued a scam alert. The organization warns that scammers are calling people and trying to extort money using their phone number, with the exact number displayed on the caller ID.

Animal Care and Control staff stress that they would never ask for money over the phone. They also point out that their officers always wear uniforms and drive marked Animal Care and Control vehicles.

If you suspect fraud, authorities advise you to report it to the police or the FBI.
