2 people arrested after shooting and police pursuit

DAKOTA COUNTY, Nebraska (KELO) – A man and a woman are in custody following a shooting and subsequent chase involving a police officer over the weekend.

The South Sioux City Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol are investigating a shooting that occurred near a gas station on Saturday.

The incident involved two people and a stolen rental car from Budget Rental in Kansas.

According to officials, Brian Leroy Church drove the truck toward a police officer, which led to the shooting.

After striking a parked car, the truck sped off and officers pursued it into Iowa before ending the pursuit near Elk Point, South Dakota.

Church was taken into custody along with Gwenn Homan, who was originally driving the stolen truck.
