Update on the afternoon of First Alert Action Day

(KFVS) – Good afternoon, Heartland. After a very changeable morning, we are finally seeing a drier pattern move into the area. However, the chance for strong, large storms will increase again during the evening, coming out of our northwestern counties. The Storm Prediction Center still has us at a level three out of five, an enhanced risk for today due to the likelihood of severe storms. With these storm systems, we can expect destructive, strong winds, large hail, and the possibility of some strong tornadoes.

After the storms have passed, our next concern will be the possibility of potential flooding. A flood warning and flood watch are currently in effect for this evening. Temperatures will remain just above 27 degrees in most areas.
