A tornado warning has been issued for much of the area, including the Louisville metro, until 4 p.m. Strong storms are expected in the region on Sunday. The storms will initially develop along a warm front, bringing torrential rain and possibly some warnings for the area late in the morning and afternoon. More storms will move in Sunday evening. These storms have stronger momentum and bring a destructive wind threat in addition to concerns for flooding and isolated tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Louisville and the surrounding region in the Enhanced Risk category, which is Level 3 out of 5 possible levels. A flood warning has been issued for nearly the entire WLKY viewing area. The risk of flash flooding is greater for our southern communities, as they have experienced more frequent thunderstorms over the past few days. With some of the more severe storms, 1 to 3 inches of rain are possible during the day and overnight on Sunday. Thunderstorm activity is expected to continue into the night, with the severe threat continuing into late Sunday. A few showers may be possible early Monday.
