Father arrested in death of 1-year-old boy in Palmdale – NBC Los Angeles

The father of a 1-year-old boy who died while playing in a Palmdale park has been arrested, authorities said Thursday.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said homicide detectives began investigating the toddler’s possible cause of death and arrested the father on charges of “aiding in the concealment of a crime” and child endangerment.

The boy died Wednesday morning after officers responded to a 911 call reporting a child unresponsive at Courson Park in the 38000 block of 10th Street E.

After finding the boy in a car with the father, first responders performed CPR on the child and took him to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s department had initially said the child had been given Narcan, but Lt. Michael Gomez of the department later clarified that it was not used.

Officials did not know what had led to the child’s distress as of Thursday; the cause of death is still being determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
