Man found dead in Fort Worth accidentally shot himself, police said after investigation

A man was found to have accidentally shot himself after his body was discovered early Saturday in south Fort Worth, police said. Investigators initially assumed his death was a murder.

Officers responded to a call about an unconscious person in the 300 block of East Seminary Drive, near Vermont Avenue, around 2:10 a.m. and found the man’s body.

Attorneys say a man convicted of an Arlington school shooting in 2021 will not get a second trial

The man – whom police did not identify – appeared to have been shot in the upper body, police said. The death did not appear in Tarrant County court records Saturday morning.

Police said Saturday morning that detectives were working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which is being investigated as a homicide. On Saturday afternoon, police said there was evidence that his injuries were self-inflicted and accidental and not a case of murder or suicide.
