Exposing the people who attacked a UCLA protest last month

In the three weeks since a mob of counter-protesters attacked a pro-Palestinian protest at the University of California, Los Angeles, researchers and journalists have begun trying to figure out who the attackers were, and the university is promising to take action. Meanwhile, a white supremacist pleads guilty to targeting Baltimore’s energy system. And a school board member in Texas is changing her mind about “indoctrination” in her district after finding out there simply isn’t such a thing.

It’s the week of extremism.

UCLA protest attacker exposed

It’s been just over three weeks since a Mob of counter-demonstrators attacked a peaceful pro-Palestine demonstration at UCLA, beating and injuring several people, shooting fireworks and pepper spray into the crowd, and using batons and other weapons as police officers stood by. With the help of local researchers, media reports have begun to identify the attackers.

The attack occurred in the early hours of April 30 when dozens of counter-protesters, some carrying pro-Israel paraphernalia, began attacking the demonstrators with pepper spray, sticks and fists. The attack lasted at least three hours before police officers arrived to separate the groups.
On Wednesday, CNN published an investigation that named several of the people involved in the attack and interviewed some of them by journalists. By analyzing hundreds of videos, CNN tracked down one of the most violent counterprotesters, an 18-year-old Beverly Hills resident whose parents initially expressed support for him before changing course and saying he was not present at the incident been.
Late last week, the Guardian named three of the attackers in an investigative article analyzing why far-right groups aligned with the pro-Israel crowd during the attack. One of the men named in the Guardian story has a long history of anti-Semitism. He did not explain to the newspaper why he was involved in the attack.

UCLA leadership has pledged to investigate the attack. “I am committed to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice,” UCLA Chancellor Gene Block wrote in a May 6 statement. “The LAPD has assigned a detective to assist us in our investigation and we have also contacted the FBI about possible assistance,” the statement said. No charges were filed.

Neo-Nazi pleads guilty to Baltimore power grid attack

On Tuesday, 36-year-old Sarah Beth Clendaniel pleaded guilty to planning an attack on Baltimore’s power grid by shooting at substations in a “ring” around the city. Clendaniel was arrested last year along with Brandon Russell, the founder of the neo-Nazi group Atom Waffen. Prosecutors allege that the attack was intended to “cause cascading failures costing billions of dollars.”

The planned attack came amid a rise in attacks on the power grid, often by far-right groups and individuals.
Nuclear Weapons, now largely defunct, adhered to the white supremacist concept of accelerationism – aiming to foment a race war and resulting dystopia in order to bring about a race-based new global order.

Texas school board member now admits to extremist conspiracies

A newly elected school board member near Fort Worth, Texas, who vowed to rid the district of “indoctrination” on race and sexuality is now denying her claims after months of combing through the district’s curriculum, reported ProPublica this week.

Courtney Gore, a local radio host, is now denying the far-right platform on which she ran for office, telling ProPublica, “None of it fit.”
When Gore originally ran for the 7,700-student Granbury School District seat, she wrote on Facebook, “Over the years, our American education system has been hijacked by leftists who want to teach our children the ‘progressive’ mindset.”
But after thoroughly examining the curriculum, speaking with educators and finding their requests blocked by hostile board members, Gore changed course: “I’m past the political agenda, hypocrisy,” Gore wrote on Facebook. “I took part in it myself. I refuse to participate any longer. It doesn’t serve our party. We have to do better.”

As ProPublica reported, Gore’s about-face is rare in today’s polarized political climate. “You rarely see changes like this because the people who are chosen to run are usually true believers,” University of Houston political scientist Brandon Rottinghaus told the publication. “As a rule, these are not people who necessarily think about the holistic problem.” ”
