Kenyan President William Ruto visits Atlanta in May

ATLANTA — Kenyan President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto will stop in Atlanta later this month before a state visit to the White House.

Mayor Andre Dickens will host the President and First Lady on May 20 and 21.

The visit highlights Atlanta’s global standing and will strengthen partnerships in business, technology and innovation, education and within the African diaspora, according to a release.

“On behalf of our great city, it is our honor to welcome President and First Lady Ruto to Atlanta. I look forward to learning how we can further strengthen our cultural and economic partnerships, as well as joining with other leaders to provide the world-class hospitality that Atlanta is known for,” said Mayor ‘Atlanta, Andre Dickens.

During his stay in Atlanta, President Ruto will meet with civic leaders and luminaries from the city’s global service sectors, creative economy and international health institutions, and will discuss in more detail with Mayor Dickens strategies in regarding the development of affordable housing.

President Ruto will visit the White House on May 23, where he will meet President Joe Biden to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Kenya.
