Police investigation closes Hainault station; Six mile long queues on the M26

Hainault train station was closed by police after several people, including two police officers, were attacked.

Footage on social media showed someone wielding a Samarai sword in the area before a 36-year-old man was arrested, police said.

Meanwhile, there are significant delays on the M26 into London due to emergency repairs.

Six miles of queues were reported on the M26 westbound at the M25 due to a lane closure, according to traffic monitoring service Inrix.

The repairs also caused delays M25 in both directions between J5 for Sevenoaks and the Clacket Lane Services.

Due to train bottlenecks and train cancellations, there are also minor delays on the Circle and Northern lines.

As hundreds of border guards at Heathrow Airport enter the second day of their four-day strike, there is a warning that passengers can expect longer queues as more than 300 members of the Public and Commercial Services Union continue their strike affecting Heathrow terminals 2 concerns , 3, 4 and 5, in a dispute over working conditions.

Southwest commuter route affected by signal failure

South Western Railway routes between Waterloo and Shepperton are disrupted due to a signal fault.

Train services to and from these stations will be suspended between Shepperton and Fulwell.

According to National Rail, disruption is expected until 6pm.

Crash on the M25

There is currently traffic congestion on the A12 in both directions at the M25 J28 (Brentwood/Brook Street roundabout) due to a traffic light disruption.

Traffic jam on the M25, five miles anti-clockwise back past the J29 Romford and a few miles on the A12 Brentwood Bypass.

Kings Cross trains disrupted

Two train lines between Stevenage and London Kings Cross are disrupted due to an earlier switch failure in New Barnet. The following routes are affected:

  • Great Northern between Peterborough / Kings Lynn and London Kings Cross and between Welwyn Garden City and Moorgate

  • Thames connection between Cambridge and Brighton, between Peterborough and Horsham and between Welwyn Garden City and Sevenoaks

The lines have reopened, but cancellations or delays of up to 10 minutes may still occur.

The disruption is expected to last until at least 11 a.m.

The Elizabeth Line no longer has a delay

British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the area near Hainault tube station at 7.07am today (April 30) to assist the Metropolitan Police.”

“Officers are currently present. The station is closed and there is a barrier.”

There are currently minor delays between Paddington and Heathrow due to a previous person being ill on a train at Whitechapel – good service the rest of the route.

There are unconfirmed reports of multiple stabbings and crime scene footage that appears to show a man with a samurai sword.

A large police presence was observed in front of the Hainault subway station.

Labor MP for Ilford North Wes Streeting said a “critical incident” had been declared following the incident, urging people not to speculate or post footage on social media “until details are confirmed”.

Man arrested after incident at Hainault train station

Redbridge Police have confirmed a man has been arrested in the Hainault area.

A “critical incident” has been reported in Hainaut, Labor MP for Ilford North Wes Streeting said.

He did not reveal any further details, other than to say that a man had been arrested.

Mr Streeting also urged people not to speculate or post footage on social media “until details are confirmed”.

The northern line is no longer severely delayed

The Northern line was significantly delayed between Kennington and Morden due to an earlier faulty train at Clapham South.

Although this is no longer the case, there are still minor delays along the entire route due to a lack of trains.

The circle line no longer lags

There are also traffic jams to the J4 Orpington clockwise and back on the M26.
