Man faces charges after police officer injured during chase with chainsaw

A suspect has been charged after two police officers were injured in an incident in Renfrewshire where a man was seen running with a chainsaw.

A 30-year-old was arrested following the disturbance on Glasgow Road in Paisley, which also saw a vehicle colliding with a stationary police car.

Footage shared on social media shows a man chasing an officer while brandishing a weapon shortly after the accident at around 1pm on Monday.

The man is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court later.

Police Scotland said there were no further injuries and there was no major risk to the public.
