Neel Jani of the No. 99 Proton Competition Porsche took the lead after two hours of racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

In the first hour the race started intensely and excitingly, with a great performance from Andlauer in the #99 Proton Competition Porsche. He quickly took the lead and built up a significant lead.

In the second hour, both factory Porsches and customer vehicles showed impressive speed. The Porsche Penske #6, driven by Frederic Makowiecki, was closely followed on the Kemmel straight by Antonio Giovinazzi in the Ferrari #51. Eventually Giovinazzi overtook and overtook Makowiecki.

Toyota was determined to bounce back after a difficult start. Mike Conway in the GR010 Hybrid #7 was chased by Will Stevens in the JOTA #12, leading to an exciting battle between the two British drivers.

While Andlauer was expanding his lead, the car starting in second place, the #2 Cadillac V-Series.R driven by Alex Lynn, ran into trouble and had to pit to change the medium tires on the left side and the lost speed to regain. Tire performance was a crucial factor in their struggle to keep up the pace.

Jani made progress in the race and overtook Marco Wittmann in WRT’s #15 BMW M Hybrid for 11th place to gain the necessary points.

The first safety car phase was triggered by a collision between Marco Wittmann in the BMW WRT #20 and Phil Hanson in the Porsche JOTA #38. Wittmann was then punished with a drive-through penalty for the incident, which also involved Ahmad Al Harthy in the BMW M4 WRT #46.

When car number 46 hit the guardrail on the left in front of Les Combes (Turn 8), there was initially a virtual safety car phase, which later turned into a longer safety car phase around the damaged guardrail to replace.

There was a tense moment for Jani when the door of car number 99 would not close despite several attempts. However, the problem was resolved and operations continued without further problems.

Jani retained the lead in the Hypercar class, with James Calado in the #51 Ferrari in second place, followed by Michael Christensen in the #5 Porsche Penske. Andre Lotterer in the other #6 Porsche Penske took fourth place, while Yifei Ye in the #83 AF Corse Ferrari completed the top five.

In the LMGT3 category, Sarah Bovy showed impressive pace in the #85 Iron Dames Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, building a lead of up to 40 seconds over James Cottingham in the #59 United Autosports McLaren 720S GT3 EVO.

The battle for places just below the podium was intense, with Al Harthy defending against Ian James in the Heart of Racing AMR Vantage #27, Francesco Castellacci in the AF Corse Ferrari 296 #54 and the Manthey Porsche 911 Malykhin #92. James and Castellacci managed to climb to fourth and fifth, while Al Harthy lost two places.

Unfortunately, car #46’s day took a bad turn when it was involved in a multi-car collision.

In the LMGT3 class, Sarah Bovy continued to lead in the #85 Lamborghini, followed by James Cottingham in the #59 McLaren and Yasser Shahin’s #91 Manthey-Porsche in third place. Arnold Robin in the Akoddis ASP Lexus RC F #78 took fourth place, while Francesco Castellacci in the AF Corse Ferrari #54 took fifth place.
