USA: Masked man chokes woman, drags her between cars to sexually assault her in New York

A horrific video has emerged showing a masked man wrapping a woman with a belt, choking her and then dragging her between two cars to sexually assault her, according to media reports.

The horrific ordeal occurred around 3 a.m. on May 1 when the man followed the 45-year-old victim as he walked on the sidewalk at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue, police told the New York Post.

He dragged the victim several feet to the sidewalk until he lost consciousness, according to the shocking video obtained by The Post.

The alleged video also showed him dragging the woman between two cars and raping her there.

The man fled the scene after the incident.

He has not yet been arrested.

The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the violent sexual assault, cops told the New York Post.

The overall crime index across New York City fell another 4.9 percent in April compared to the same month last year, while serious crime in the nation’s largest subway system fell another 23 percent, continuing a downward trend previously seen in the public Local transport recorded a decline of 15.4 percent in February and 23.5 percent in March.

“Public housing across the city also saw a renewed decline in major incidents, with sustained declines of 4.1 percent in February, 6.2 percent in March and 8.7 percent in April compared to the respective months of the previous year “said a statement from the New York Police Department.

There was a sharp decline in key crimes in April: murder by 30.3 percent (23 compared to 33), aggravated car theft by 10.9 percent (1,134 compared to 1,273), burglary by 10.6 percent (1,003 compared to 1,122), more serious Theft fell by 6.9 percent (3,772 versus 4,051) and crimes fell by 1.9 percent (2,270 versus 2,314).

Overall, nearly 500 fewer serious crimes occurred in New York City in April 2024 than in April 2023. Robberies, which were flat in March, increased 7.2 percent in April (1,326 vs. 1,237); Rapes reported during the month increased by six incidents (124 versus 118), or 5.1 percent, but fell 1.4 percent year to date (491 versus 498), a decrease of seven incidents.
