Heavy police presence following officer-involved shooting in downtown St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – There is a heavy police presence in downtown St. Louis following an officer-involved shooting Friday morning.

The St. Louis Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center told First Alert 4 that around 7:35 a.m. two people were shot at N. 14th Street and Market Street. One of the people shot was not conscious nor was the other conscious and breathing when officers arrived on scene.

Real Time Crime told First Alert 4 that it was an officer-involved shooting and that the officer did in fact fire a weapon. It is currently unknown whether both individuals were shot by the officer or what events preceded the shooting.

Saint Louis University’s Department of Public Safety posted on social media that there was a “critically large police presence” next to the Scott Law Center. They are asking people to avoid the area.

According to the university, there is no threat to the law school.
