Latest injury news as Braves begin second half

Outfielder Michael Harris II (hamstring): There’s no update, Snitker said. “It’s the same; when they come to me and tell me he’s ready to go (he will), but until then it’s a slow process,” he said. Harris won’t be back until August.

The team hopes his eventual return will bolster the roster. He will undoubtedly help the defense, moving Jarred Kelenic, who has played well in center, to left field.

Holder Ian Anderson (Tommy John surgery last April): “He’s doing well,” Snitker said. “He got activated to Gwinnett (Triple-A). Everything I’ve heard is really positive, and he’s moving forward full speed. So that’s really, really encouraging.”

Anderson has pitched well in the minor leagues, posting a 2.19 ERA in four starts in three minor leagues. He has 10 strikeouts and one walk in 12 1/3 innings. The Braves need additional depth in their rotation, so Anderson could have a chance to contribute. Although he struggled in the 2022 campaign, Anderson was a big part of the 2020 and 2021 clubs and excelled in the postseason.

“It’s getting to the point where they’re just going to let him play and pitch every five days,” Snitker said.

Holder Hurston Waldrep (elbow): The Thomasville native has been throwing live workouts, Snitker said. Waldrep was placed on injured reserve after his MLB debut.

Holder Huascar Ynoa (elbow): Ynoa also threw live workouts and began a rehab assignment in the Florida Complex League. Ynoa had been on hiatus since April while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
