Portsmouth drug trafficking suspect arrested following Gosling Meadows report

PORTSMOUTH — A Dominican man has been arrested and faces federal charges for allegedly selling illegal drugs to a confidential police source in the city, according to an affidavit filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in connection with the case.

According to the US Attorney General, 28-year-old Maikol Yordan Saldivar-Diaz was charged with trafficking in controlled substances – fentanyl and methamphetamine.

According to federal prosecutors, Portsmouth Housing Authority officials notified Portsmouth police of “ongoing drug activity in the Gosling Meadows residential area.”

The Portsmouth Housing Authority owns and operates the facility.

“Investigators were subsequently able to identify Saldivar-Diaz as the source of this drug activity. On three occasions in June and July 2024, Saldivar-Diaz sold controlled substances to a confidential informant,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated in its press release. “The first two sales involved a quantity of suspected fentanyl and the third sale involved a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.”
