Man arrested for sexually abusing his underage daughter

Medipally police on Thursday arrested a man who sexually abused his minor daughter at her residence in Peerzadiguda and later tried to mislead the investigation by reporting a kidnapping.

The 40-year-old man is a construction worker and his wife was travelling in Odisha. The incident came to light after he called the police to lodge a complaint against the neighbour for ‘kidnapping his daughter’.

“When the officials reached the spot and rescued the 13-year-old girl, she told them that her father had sexually abused her. She ran to the neighbour for help, who then tried to take her to her hostel,” said medical inspector R. Govinda Reddy.

After officially recording the victim’s statement, a case was initiated. The girl was taken to a relative’s house and her mother was called back to the city, the official added.
