Rape: Minor commits suicide after being raped by teenager in Satna district | Bhopal News

Bhopal: A minor has allegedly committed suicide after being raped by a teenager from her village in Satna district. In a suicide note – purportedly written by her – she had claimed that she was raped by a minor youth from her village, which prompted her to take this extreme step. The girl attempted suicide on July 11 and was admitted to the hospital in serious condition, where she was treated for five days but was unable to speak before finally losing her battle for life on Tuesday. Later, the relatives received the suicide note and handed it over to the police. The incident took place on July 11 in a village under Kotar police station of the district. A minor girl, barely 18 years of age, hanged herself when her parents were not at home and she was alone with her 14-year-old brother. The brother informed the mother and she took the girl to Satna district hospital with the help of neighbours, where her condition remained critical and she died during treatment on July 16. “We could not record the girl’s statement as she was unable to speak since the day she was admitted to the hospital. The suicide note was also not available initially as the girl had reportedly kept it somewhere in her house. Now we have received the letter accusing a minor youth of raping the deceased. We are currently conducting detailed investigation and will decide on further course of action based on the findings,” Ravindra Dwivedi, in-charge of Kotar police station, told TOI.
