Buffalo man arrested in connection with July 4 shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has been arrested and charged in connection with a July 4 shooting in the 1400 block of East Delavan Avenue, Buffalo police said Monday.

Around 4 a.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in East Delavan. While responding, authorities said officers encountered a vehicle heading to ECMC with a victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside. The victim, a 31-year-old man, was treated and released from ECMC.


Irving Mitchell, 41, was arrested July 12 in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with the following counts:

  • attempted second degree murder
  • third degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • second degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • second degree reckless endangerment
