Houston crime: Man killed in hit-and-run crash, HPD says

HPD said the man was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a dark-colored SUV struck him.

HOUSTON — A man is dead after a hit-and-run in west Houston early Monday morning, police said.

It happened around 1 a.m. on Westheimer Road at Dairy Ashford.

According to the Houston Police Department, the man was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a car traveling east on Westheimer hit him and kept going. When officers arrived on scene, the man was already dead.

Investigators were working to gather surveillance video and speak to witnesses.

Police were unable to provide a description of the suspect vehicle, other than that it was a dark-colored SUV.
