(KRON) — A Los Angeles man was arrested at San Francisco International Airport in June with “two suitcases full of illegal drugs,” the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.

On June 27, the Department of Homeland Security contacted the sheriff’s office and reported that the TSA had found six kilograms of methamphetamine in two suitcases during a routine inspection. According to the sheriff’s office, Paz-Guzman attempted to bring the two suitcases through the TSA security checkpoint.

The suitcases belonged to 23-year-old Jauan Manuel Paz-Guzman. According to SMCSO, he had a plane ticket from SFO to Australia and planned to take the drugs there.

In pictures shared by the sheriff’s office, the suspected drugs can be seen in four packages. Six kilograms correspond to 13.2 pounds.

Paz-Guzman was taken to prison for transportation and possession of methamphetamine and burglary.

While the San Francisco Police Department at SFO is responsible for law enforcement, the SMCSO is responsible for criminal investigations.
