Rape: Man arrested for rape and sexual abuse of minor | News from Vadodara

Vadodara: A man accused of raping a woman and sexually harassing her daughters has been arrested by the Makarpura police in West Bengal. The rape survivor had earlier alleged that a police official took money from her to travel to West Bengal and nab the accused. The survivor had initially accused Pranav Mondal of promising her marriage and repeatedly raping her in hotels. An offence was registered against Mondal at Manjalpur police station and he was arrested. After Mondal was released on bail, the survivor accused him of sexually harassing her daughters too and an offence to this effect was registered at Makarpura police station. Mondal had not been arrested in the Makarpura case and was on the run. The case had sparked a huge controversy after the woman made allegations against a police inspector who demanded Rs 1.55 lakh from her in two instalments for a trip to West Bengal to nab the accused Mondal. The allegations were investigated. A team of Makarpura police collected information about the accused and traced him to his residence in Makarpura. Mondal was brought to the city after a transit warrant was obtained.
