Officials suspend Turkish President Merih Demiral for celebrating with a hand gesture linked to the ultranationalist group Grey Wolves

Damn, people are stupid.

Turkey national football team defender Merih Demiral has been banned by UEFA for two Euro 2024 matches after celebrating a goal with a hand gesture associated with the ultranationalist group Grey Wolves. The incident occurred on Tuesday during Turkey’s round of 16 win over Austria.

UEFA confirmed on Wednesday that an inspector had been appointed to open an investigation into Demiral. Later in the week, on Friday, they issued a statement that Demiral had been banned “for failing to comply with the general principles of conduct, violating the basic rules of decent behaviour, using sporting events for rallies of a non-sporting nature and bringing the sport of football into disrepute,” according to ESPN. This is a big loss for Turkey, as Demiral scored all the goals in the 2-1 win that secured Turkey’s place in the quarter-finals. The match against the Netherlands will take place on Saturday, and Demiral is of course suspended.

Demiral will also miss the semi-final match against Switzerland or England if Turkey beat the Netherlands. (Spoiler alert: They won’t)

After scoring the second goal against Austria, Demiral made a hand gesture that is strongly associated with Ülkü Ocaklari, a Turkish ultranationalist organization commonly known as the Grey Wolves.

Wait a minute…he got suspended for using the NWO/The Kliq “Too Sweet” symbol? (LMAO)

This doesn’t make the whole situation serious, but rather absolutely hilarious! Pure comedy!
