Springfield man charged with simple assault after hit-and-run

SPRINGFIELD – A Springfield man has been charged with simple assault following a reported hit-and-run accident last week, according to Springfield police.

On June 21 at approximately 4:41 p.m., police were called to a residence on Union Street after receiving a 911 call reporting a man had been hit by a car.

Officers Kelcey, Freeman and Guzzo conducted the initial investigation which led to the identification of Michael Gadwah as a suspect.

Gadwah is said to have attacked the victim before fleeing the scene.

After a week-long investigation involving several officers, Gadwah was arrested on June 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Conditions of release and a criminal complaint have been issued for Gadwah. He is scheduled to appear in the Criminal Division of Windsor County Superior Court on July 1.
