DOJ and DCI investigator involved in Adams County shooting | Top Stories

TOWN OF BIG FLATS, Wisconsin – An investigation is underway following a shooting involving a police officer in the Town of Big Flats Saturday afternoon.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), the agency is investigating the incident jointly with the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

A press release from the Department of Justice states: “At approximately 3:01 p.m., Adams County Sheriff’s officers responded to a call regarding a driver under the influence of narcotics and armed with firearms. Approximately one hour later, officers searched for and located the reported vehicle and initiated several short pursuits. During a pursuit, the offender fired a weapon at officers, who returned fire. The offender was injured as a result of the incident and received medical treatment at the scene. He was transported to a hospital for serious injuries. No other persons were injured in this incident. The officers involved are on administrative duty in accordance with agency policy.”
