Police investigate two double murders in Las Cruces

Las Cruces police are investigating two separate double homicides that occurred within less than 12 hours of each other Sunday. A Las Cruces police spokesperson said the first incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday near Avenida del Sol and Cortez Drive. According to police, a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were shot in a vehicle. The male victim died at the scene. The female victim was taken to a local hospital but did not survive her injuries. The second incident occurred around 11 a.m. Sunday. Police said officers went to a home in the 1100 block of Wofford Drive and found two men dead at the scene. A 45-year-old man has been arrested but has not yet been charged in that incident. The investigation into both homicides is ongoing.
