2 Fairfax County police officers injured after man steals police car and crashes – NBC4 Washington

Two Fairfax County police officers were hospitalized after a man stole an unmarked police vehicle outside Fair Oaks Mall, led police on a chase and then crashed into three patrol cars, authorities said.

The man took the police car in front of the shopping center shortly before noon on Friday, sped away and turned on the blue lights and siren, the district police said.

First he crashed into a patrol car. Officers pursued him along Government Center Parkway, past the police headquarters and the state government building. Then he crashed into two more patrol cars.

Two officers and the suspect were taken to hospitals. Information about their injuries was not initially released. The officers managed to arrest the man.

The destroyed vehicles can be seen in the pictures from Chopper4.

An investigation is ongoing.
