Musician Travis Scott arrested in Miami Beach for drunkenness

(Reuters) – Hip-hop star Travis Scott was arrested on Thursday for drunkenness and trespassing after a disturbance broke out on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida, local police said.

According to a police affidavit, Miami Beach police officers arrested Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, 33, at about 1:44 a.m. local time at the city’s marina.

Officers responded to a call from the marina reporting a fight on a yacht. They found Scott standing on the dock, yelling at passengers on the vessel. Scott briefly obeyed officers’ commands to sit down, but then kept getting up, officers wrote in the affidavit.

The police noticed a “strong smell of alcohol on the defendant’s breath,” they wrote. The plaintiff told the officers that he did not want to press charges, but wanted to get Scott off the boat.

“During the long walk from the ship to the boardwalk, the defendant walked backwards and shouted obscenities at the ship’s occupants,” officials wrote.

Scott’s representatives could not be reached by Reuters.

Scott left the scene but soon returned and walked back to the boat. He passed police officers in the marina parking lot who ordered him to stop. Scott was then arrested after he began yelling and causing a disturbance, the affidavit states.

In 2021, ten fans were killed and thousands injured at the Grammy-nominated artist’s Astroworld festival in Texas after the crowd rushed the stage. The rapper told GQ magazine he was “beyond shaken” by the incident.
