McDonald’s has temporarily suspended the sale of French fries in Korea due to a supply chain disruption.

“Due to an unexpected problem in our supply chain, we are temporarily unable to offer French fries,” MC Donalds Korea announced this in a statement on Thursday.

The US-based fast-food company did not announce a specific date for reselling French fries, but said it would do its best to resume sales as soon as possible.

Customers can no longer purchase meals that include French fries. Instead, they receive a free medium Coke with every burger purchase.

McDonald’s Korea briefly stopped selling French fries in August 2021 and February 2022 due to supply chain disruptions. In 2021, McDonald’s served various side dishes instead of French fries after potato imports became difficult in 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and pandemic-related disruptions in overseas freight transport.

The Korean subsidiary imports all potatoes for its French fries from the USA, according to the company’s website.
