Teenagers: 19-year-old youth who survived coma dies in accident | Chennai News

Chennai: A 19-year-old youth, who was recovering from injuries sustained in a bike accident that left him in a coma for six months, died when his new bike crashed into a lamp post near Ennore Expressway. Police said Abdul Sajith of Thyagarayapuram in Thiruvottiyur had pestered his parents to buy him a new bike two weeks ago and took it for a spin without a helmet on Monday. While riding on the service road of Ennore Expressway, he tried to turn onto the expressway but lost control of his bike and crashed into a lamp post. He fell and sustained head injuries. Passersby alerted police, who took him to Govt Stanley Hospital for treatment, where he died on Tuesday morning. Police said the bike was not yet registered. He had sustained head injuries in an accident a year ago and was in a coma for six months. He has been recovering slowly in the last few months.
