Arab shot in shisha shop in Lod, murder rate rises – Israel News

After three more people were killed within just two hours on Saturday, the number of murder victims in Arab communities rose to 89 since the beginning of 2024.

At around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, officers from Lod Police Station began investigating after a shooting was reported involving a resident in his twenties. The man was seriously injured and taken to Shamir Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

In a special situation assessment, officers of the Intelligence and Investigation Department informed the district commander Avi Biton about the circumstances of the incident, the information collected, the findings obtained on the spot and the necessary ongoing investigative measures.

Intensified investigations

The murder investigation was transferred to the Central District Crime Fighting Unit, with all relevant units available to assist the investigation team. In addition, the District Commander ordered an increased presence in the city, with increased targeted pursuit of criminals in the area.

The collection of evidence was continued using all available means and possibilities in order to clarify the background and circumstances within the framework of the expedited proceedings.

Who were the victims?

The victim is Ibrahim Alhan, a young man in his twenties who worked in a shisha shop where the attacker entered and carried out the shooting. Investigators were trying to determine whether Alhan was the target of an assassination attempt, as he was previously unknown to the police.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect, who fled the scene.

Meanwhile, police received an initial report of a shooting incident in the northern village of Jadeidi-Makr at around 12:45 am. About half an hour later, the deaths of two injured people involved in the incident were confirmed. The dead were identified as Ashraf and Amir Basel, two young cousins ​​in their twenties.
