Texan charged with threatening FBI agent involved in Hunter Biden investigation

A Texas man was charged Thursday with threatening a federal agent apparently involved in the investigation into Hunter Biden and vowing that the agents would be thrown in prison after a new president was elected.

The criminal complaint does not name any names, but the FBI agent who was threatened “was known to be involved in an investigation involving a laptop belonging to HB,” and the threatening call came Tuesday after “HB” was convicted in connection with a 2018 gun purchase, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas said.

Timothy Muller, 43, was arrested outside his Fort Worth home on Thursday morning. He is charged with interstate threatening communications and influencing, obstructing or retaliating against a federal official, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

He called the FBI agent, whose name appeared in media reports during Hunter Biden’s trial, which ended in conviction, at 5:03 p.m. the day the verdict in Biden’s case was announced, prosecutors said.

“You can run, but you can’t hide,” Muller said in a voicemail in which he also made allegations of child pornography and abuse, prosecutors said in a statement. The president’s son has never been charged with such crimes.

A Delaware jury on Tuesday found Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, guilty on three counts of federal gun control for purchasing and possessing a handgun while addicted to drugs.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Muller’s voicemail also apparently referenced false claims by former President Donald Trump that the 2020 election was stolen as part of the threats against the agent.

“So this is how it’s going to go: (Ts) are going to win re-election, and then we’re going to (expletive) go through the FBI and start throwing you (expletive) in jail,” Muller said, according to the U.S. Attorney’s statement. “Or you can steal another election, and then the guns will be out.”

In the affidavit, which is part of a criminal complaint, the candidate is listed only as “T.” A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office would not confirm the identities of “HB” and “T.” mentioned in the criminal complaint.

According to the affidavit, Müller also threatened the agent’s family and called him a “traitor.”

He sent the agent a text message that read: “Did you (redacted) really think you were going to disenfranchise 75 million Americans and not die? Lol,” the affidavit states.

False claims of election fraud in 2020 are widely believed by Trump’s supporters, and many have signaled they will not accept the results of the 2024 election if Trump does not win. Trump has repeatedly and falsely cast doubt on the results of the 2020 election, which he lost.

Trump’s 2024 campaign increasingly carried a message of retaliation and revenge after he was found guilty of 34 counts by a New York state court late last month.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Muller pending his remand and preliminary hearing on Tuesday, court records show. A public defender named as his representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday evening.

If convicted, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
