Two people arrested after stabbing in Springhill

Two people have been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Springhill following a car crash in the early hours of June 10.

Cumberland County District RCMP were called to the 100 block of McGee St. around 4:40 a.m. after a report of a vehicle crashing into a parked car.

According to police, a 50-year-old man from Springhill witnessed the incident. He tried to stop the suspects from leaving and was stabbed as a result.

According to police, his injuries were not life-threatening and he was taken to hospital.

The suspects, a 31-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, both of Springhill, initially managed to elude officers at the scene, but a day later police found and arrested the woman. An arrest warrant was issued for 22-year-old Spencer Hatton, who was also safely arrested later that same day.

Hatton was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on June 18 to face several charges, including assault with a weapon, dangerous possession of a weapon and threatening death or bodily harm.

The 31-year-old unidentified woman was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on August 12.th for failure to stop after an accident and possession of property obtained by crime.
